About vignettebulgaria.com

Vignettebulgaria.com is operated by Maut & Vignette B.V. We’ve been helping drivers across Europe buy their vignettes online since 2014. Since then, we’ve delivered over 100,000 orders—and we’re proud to maintain a 4.9 rating on Trustpilot.

Our Story

2014

The Humble Beginning

We started back in 2014 with a single product: the Umweltplakette for entering low-emission zones in Germany. It was a physical sticker that we packed and shipped by post.

By 2017 we’d added Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Bulgaria to the list, posting physical vignettes to our customers across Europe. It wasn’t glamorous work, but it taught us important lessons early on: drivers crossing European borders want the peace of mind that comes with having their vignette sorted before they hit the road.

2021

Adapting to the Digital Era

As European countries moved their toll systems online, we moved with them. Austria went digital, and Bulgaria quickly followed in January 2019. Each new system meant starting from scratch. There were new APIs, new enforcement rules, new customer questions, and new edge cases to consider. But over time, we got very good at adapting quickly and making things simple on the front end.

2022

Founding Maut & Vignette B.V.

In 2022, we brought everything together under one company: Maut & Vignette B.V., registered in the Netherlands and operating across Europe.

Our ethos was simple: buying a vignette should be quick, easy, and completely stress-free, regardless of the country you’re entering or the language you speak. Every site we run, including vignettebulgaria.com, is built around that core principle.

Today

A European Leader

Today, we cover 15+ countries across Europe, with a team of 50+ people working in-house. We’ve delivered over 100,000 vignettes—and tolling continues to be our primary focus. It’s what we’ve been doing for more than a decade, and we aim to do it well.

And yes, we drive the roads ourselves!

We’ve crossed Austrian mountain passes, driven French autoroutes, and most recently, explored nearly every Czech motorway and major border crossing. When we write a guide or answer your question, we speak from firsthand experience, because we’ve been there.

We Drive the Roads We Write About

We don’t just sell Bulgarian e-vignettes from an office in the Netherlands—we actually drive the roads ourselves.

In April 2026, our team drove a full research loop across Bulgaria’s motorway and border network to see how the system works in real life. We covered major motorways like the A1 Trakia from Sofia to Burgas, the A3 Struma south toward the Greek border, and the main corridors connecting Sofia to the country’s major land crossings.

We entered and exited Bulgaria at Kalotina on the Serbian border, Kulata on the Greek border (the Sofia–Thessaloniki route along the ancient Via Aristotelis), Gyueshevo and Delchevo on the North Macedonian border, Vidin (Danube Bridge 2) and Ruse (Danube Bridge 1) on the Romanian border, and both Kapitan Andreevo and Malko Tarnovo on the Turkish border.

At every crossing, we checked the same things:

  • Where the ANPR gantries sat relative to the checkpoint
  • Whether there was a working on-site vignette kiosk on the Bulgarian side
  • How far the nearest petrol station kiosk was
  • How enforcement actually works in practice

Everything you read on this site comes from that direct, first-hand experience. We don’t write about roads we haven’t driven.

And the photos? They’re all ours. Every photo on this site was taken by a member of our team during that trip. We have a zero stock photo policy—no Shutterstock, no AI-generated borders, no generic motorway stills. If you see a Bulgarian border crossing on vignettebulgaria.com, it’s because one of us stood there and took that photo in April 2026.

Our guides are based on real journeys made by real people, not desk research.

What We Stand For

Buying a vignette shouldn’t feel complicated. You shouldn’t have to navigate a government site in a foreign language, guess which category your vehicle falls into, or wonder if your payment actually went through.

Whether you’re driving to Bulgaria for a holiday, a business trip, or just passing through on the way to Turkey or Greece, the process should be simple, clear, and secure.

Simple

Order and pay in your own language. We support 22 languages. No confusing forms, no Bulgarian-only dropdown menus.

Honest

No hidden fees. We always show the official price and our service fee separately. What you see is what you pay.

Fast

Your Bulgaria e-vignette is usually active in the bgtoll.bg system within minutes of payment.

Part of a Bigger Picture

Vignettebulgaria.com is part of a wider network operated by Maut & Vignette B.V., covering 15+ European countries, spanning the Swiss Alps to the Bulgarian Black Sea. That scale lets us build better systems, offer more payment options, and employ a team that has genuinely handled every tolling scenario, from a typo on a Turkish licence plate at a Bulgarian border to a last-minute Annual vignette on Christmas Eve. Tolling is all we do. And we’ve built our company around doing it well.
